I upgraded to the SP9 i7 - 16GB from the SQ1. I think I might have a chance if I constraint myself to use 60 Hz refresh rate + battery saver option only but the experience is far from ideal. Instead, I was a bit disappointed by the fact that I still cannot be "care-free" with its battery life like the experience I once had with my macbook pro 16 M1 Pro (which I sold off earlier this year after finding that Mac OS is not my favorite OS) - as my work involves a handful of teams calls and O365 web apps and access to Citrix - the battery life still struggles to keep on unplugged all day and I still need to find charging spots at times, no matter 5G / Wifi is used. Android apps via Windows 11 is also smooth and I argue it actually runs better than my base model SP8 did (could be due to more RAM for my SP9 SQ3?) Psychonauts 2, Evil Genius 2 via 圆4 / x86 emulation. I didn't disappoint at the performance that this device can offer In fact, to my surprise, it can actually offer playable framerates for a few older / less-demanding directx game titles at super-low resolution / details e.g. (as I enjoy connecting to work from random place like coffee shops)

My thought process was like - I am willing to sacrifice compatibility to certain apps which I probably don't use in exchange for battery life. I was at the cross-road as well when considering whether to go for Intel or SQ3 version of SP9 before making my purchase of the SQ3. I am a current SP9 SQ3 owner (16 GB Ram, 512 GB SSD model).įor browsing the web alone via MS Edge or Firefox (arm build), the experience is smooth and I don't feel any difference from a base model SP8 i5 8GB RAM At times, since I have to use web version of teams for my company, while the SP8 base model struggles when cam is turned on during teams call, SP9 SQ3 has no problem at all and it does not slow down / stutter a bit.

SP8 i7 performance is not the same as SP9 i7. I went from a SP8 i7 to SP9 sq3 and I think it performs just as well
